screen won't turn on

yesterday suddenly my droid x began drastically slowing down, then it rebooted on its own. now it will turn on and display the droid boot eye, but after that the screen goes dark and the back of the phone just above the speaker gets a bit warm. i know the droid x is on cause i get audio notifications, and the screen will turn on if i receive a call and will function properly for the call. but after the call ends it reverts back to the screen not turning on. i switched form blackberry to droid 6 months ago and am not very android savvy yet. please tell me, am i effed

see if you can boot into recovery and try wiping the data (factory reset)

if that doesn't help at all maybe try an SBF
