Display Draining Battery

my battery dies extremely quickly, the display is draining 75% of the battery, but the screen is usually off and it's on the dimmest setting. HEEEEEEELP

Is this on the original Droid? Are you running stock 2.1? Your phone is currently listed as Droid 2.1

Rooted? ROM? Kernel? Theme? What I am getting at is, what have you done to the phone? Trying to determine the least painful way for you to fix this.
