Disappearing bookmarks?

This is the second time this has happened to me -

I tried to access my bookmarks, and suddenly, they are all gone. The phone has reverted back to the default/standard bookmarks that were on my Droid when I bought it.

Any idea why this happens and what I can do to prevent it again? It's just a pain to have to re-bookmark favorite sites.
