I have the Droid 2. When the display turns off I have to press the power button to get it back on, but still have to swipe to unlock.

I feel the power button on this is well protected enough and I have not turned it on by accident so i want to eliminate the need to swipe to unlock after I press the power button. How do I do this?

I checked the screen lock settings, but do see an option to turn this off. right now I don't have any passwords set.

There are several widgets for that, I use "No Lock", with a simple tap it disables locking screen. It's free on the market. :)
