Direct Dial Contact number selections problem/issue

I have a DX2 and when i put a contact on my desktop, if that contact has multiple numbers when i select to call it will show those multiple numbers and ask which one and has a checkbox to set a default one. It does the same thing for TXT message but when you select a default number for text it also makes that the default number to dial when selecting call. Is there anyway around this? Its annoying because i have contacts that have several diffrent work numbers but only one cell/txt number and when i want to send a txt i have to select the moibile number instead of it automatically selecting it....You follow, i know it sounds confiusing
