Dial pad

When I call into my voice mail, or need to use the dial pad after a call has been made (to select VM options, enter passwords, ect) the dial pad won't come up, even after I reposition the phone. This leads my work voice mail to transfer me to an operator, because I am unable to make selections or hang up the phone. Does anyone know of a solution to get the dial pad to pop up?

Press the "dial pad" software button on the phone screen when you are in the call...

That's the problem, I can't press the button, b/c the screen stays black...it happens about 50% of the time.

Can I change my dial pad keys to another color or change them at all

Only way is with themes and ROMs which you have to be rooted to do

The dialer is its own app so you have to extract the dialer/phone.apk.
