Deleting emails

is there a way to delete multiple emails at once other than having to put check mark in everyone first?

I use Yahoo and just press the menu button and select all and delete.

The exact reason I switched to K-9 mail. It's free, opensource and in the market

I use gmail. Whenever I have multiple emails to delete I click select all but I still have to manually add the check to each one to delete. There must be a way to do this without having to add the checkmarks
