Dead screen need to backup.

The screen on my phone randomly decided to die today. the backlight and everything else works but the screen will not show anything. I do have clockwork installed and was hoping someone can throw up a quick walkthru on what order to press what buttons to pull a new nandroid backup so that i can dump it to my new phone when it shows up.

Thanks for the help

Did you have a rom installed already?

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

Yes I do have a rom installed. I was in the middle of typing out a text message and the screen went black. have tried pulling the battery many times with no luck.

When i turn on the phone anything I KNOW how to do without seeing the screen works.. I can unlock it access voice dialing etc, so i know the phone is working. My guess is the the ribbon cable for the screen broke.

I know hoe to get into recovery mode by holding x when powering up i just dont know the order of what buttons to press to work in clockwork. I just want to make a backup so I can use a SBF to get back to stock and send it off to verizon.

Thanks for any help

The reason I'm asking is sometimes a rom that's been dwnlded recenct could have had a bad link and all of the rom didn't get flashed properly, sometimes when you dwnld a from a link the link itself may be corupted and not dwnld right. When it happens you won't get all the parts of the rom, try re-installing your rom again do a cmplete wipe and if possible a nandroid back up, also could be a launcher problem, launcher pro sometimes it has issuses with certain roms especialy the new updated one. I experianced this not too long ago with a rom that my phone started out liking but a few days went by and I had nothing at all on my phone. Had to do a battery pull, x and power control, went into recovery and flashed my prior rom back on. Then it was fine. So at that point I knew that rom would not work on my phone. Try a fresh install if it does it again then switch to another rom. You will eventualy find the one you like and plays nice to your phone. Hope this helps.

It is a rom i have been using for a little while, however it is not just once the phone is booted that i cant see anything.. i never get the white m at start-up, i cant see anything in recovery mode or boot loader mode. That is why I said i believe it to be a ribbon cable problem.

It is most likely the digitizer.

Well, from what I have read around here, it is the digitizer that goes.
