install shouldn't effect on your phone's speed. it's the ones that are running in background that will make it crawl. some apps aren't written as well as others, and that'll create problems. task killing will help in some scenarios.

That sounds nice but the truth is apps running in the background and task killers are not the answer. What's probably going on is you have one or two apps that are slowing it down. Droid is very good at running it's own memory.

My suggestion is when you see it start to bog down give it a restart. I usually do mine once every other day. If you have any virus protection remove it, as well as task killers. Both are resource hogs, and task killers are fighting the Droids own memory management system.

Also get something to clean the cache of your apps. I use Cache-mate for rooted users, if you're not rooted then find something else, just search for cache cleaner.

Hope this helps.

See if that doesn't help you out some. Sometimes it's the simple

Yes i've closed most app eh must be that i'm expecting to much for a droid x. Especially that its running android 2.1. Alot of people complaints about it not being smooth enough.

I recommend reading the thread entitled "Keep your Droid X running snappy!" Follow the whole post. It's long, but works amazingly. My phone has no lag at all and battery has increased as well. 70% now after 26 hours.

Why would you think its any different than a computer? It has a processor, ram and harddrive....it IS a small computer, so yeah...the stuff you have installed/running processes are going to take their load.

I have read that SNAPPY thread u have to root the x for most of it to work and I talked with 4 diff V reps and all said if the X is rooted they will not replace there for not looking to root how can the phone stay fast w/o a killer or rooting it?

Of course they would say that. They work for Verizon. They just say that to keep you from doing so. No one is going to check if you rooted your phone. In fact, a lot of people working at a Verizon store wouldn't even know what to look for. Ask around if anyone has ever been denied their warranty because of rooting. I bet you will find very few.

I didn't say its not a computer, infact one of these device can run other os just have to wait until someone does that but it does have the efuse which will make it hard for hacker. In fact it is running android and i have a android running on one of my pc which is android 2.2. Very simular to full blown linux dist.
