I probably sound like a broken record here, but the reason I have always loved roms is because they allow you to run the latest and greatest versions of Android no matter how old your device is. As long as there is a developer willing to develop for the device you can have have the newest version of Android.
If you happen to have a Galaxy S3 laying around you can finally install Marshmallow. CyanogenMod 13 nightlies are now available for the S3, Zenfone 2, and Shield Portable. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint variants of the S3 are supported. Head to the link below for the download links.
