Solved Customizing Contact Phone Number Description No Go

When I open a contact and add a phone number and try to customize it, it appears as "other", instead of what I typed. This didn't use to be the case. Any ideas on why now are appreciated.

I figured out the answer. I'm leaving this up in case someone else needs to know.

After customizing the name, you have to SYNC CONTACTS for the change to take effect.
