custom handcent notifications

Ok did the search created a file on sd card called media directly than made sub folder called media audio than sub folders for media notifications ringtones, alarms, mp3s. I down loaded sounds from phonezoo to my pc and copied them in the different folders but when I try to put my own notification sounds for incoming texts on handcent it doesn't show up in the list just the ones that came on my droid. What am I doing wrong.

download an app called ringdroid (free in the market) then edit the audio you want to be a notification
