Contacts on Home Screen

hey there y'all and thanks in advance
rocking a motorola Atrix II
and i have a new update
Android Version 4.0.4 today
I can not place (have not figured out yet) how to place contacts on home screen - after update 2 where removed

▢ ▢ button on bottom of phone only offers
- wallpaper
-manage apps
- system settings

not an option in contacts app either (now called "people")
incidentally - on manage apps screen people is still called "contacts"

help me get them back on screen - I can not drag and drop....

scroll to widgets
direct dial
hold and drop in home screen
select number from contacts
viola...
phew...
