Contacts not in alphabetical order

Are they listed alphabetically by FIRST name? It's lame but that appears how it works in the stock Contacts list at least.

Go to your contacts screen then menu>display options>sort names>family name. Should list the names by last name now. Your contacts should be entered by first and last names. If you have "Jack Smith" on the given name line it wont list in the S section. It will be in the J's. Good luck!

I found that happening when changed my daughters last name to her married name. Turned it to be that I must have touched the space bar before her first name and she was space kim undress of just kim....when I removed the space before her name and saved that change. She just popped back where she belonged. Hope that works, Linda

He's right, it is in alphabetical order by first name.

Look at your "My Contacts" list in gmail. Not the app the web site. That's exactly how they appear on my phone.

Now if you want to do last name first there is an app in the Market called Better Contacts. It gets some really mixed reviews.

When I go to my contacts screen, there is no "display options."

I must be in the wrong spot. I have:

Add Contact
Backup Assistant
Search
Display Group
My Info
More

If I click More, I get

Manage accounts
Settings
Share name cards
Import/Export
