contact ringtones NEVER WORK!

I've tried everything I can to solve this problem, it's driving me crazy... no matter how many different things I try I can never ever ever ever ever get contact ringtones to work... I've tried Fission, Stock, and Angel roms... they just don't work. is there a god damned app I can download that will do this for me and do it right? I've not been able to find anything and it's really annoying

Just hope gingerbread fixes it, that's my plan.

My contact ringtones worked very well on a new vzw d2g, but i've had similar problems trying other roms. My guess is that ringtones are a casualty (I don't know if it's unavoidable or not) of the removal/modification of code during the coding process.

If we could get an answer from someone who's familiar with the code, maybe they could shed some light. I've just decided to live with my one ringtone until I have a chance to find a solution.
