I used to be able to crop the photos for my contacts (under edit contact) in order to just see a face for the contact on my droid 2 global running stock gingerbread. It seems you can not do this on a razr maxx running gingerbread and no third party contact apps.
Am I missing some step or secret menu here? I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance

I don't understand the cropping box comes up automatically when you pick a pic for a contact.
Just grab a corner of the box and crop away.

Oddly enough the cropping box does not appear on my phone....select a photo and it automatically goes to the contact.
Guess I got a glitch on my phone

Ah ha! I figured it out, I use QuickPik instead of the stock Gallery. I tried the stock Gallery for an experiment and you're right once picked you go right back to the contact.
With Quickpik you get a white box around the pic so you can crop, then you hit the floppy disc icon to save it to your contact.

I shoot and have a lot of pictures and the stock gallery is pure torture, so it maybe an good replacement for you.

You can crop via gallery its must be done prior to picking a contact.
