Cold Weather(teens & single digits) affecting Droid 3

my Droid 3 unresponsive in cold weather. Shuts itself down. It is carried in pocket, but pull out and sometimes is OFF. Pulled battery and used hair-dryer (LO-temp) for a minute or two, at least 6-8 inches away and works, but does again when walking outside for more than 10-15 minutes. ???? Phone is just over 2 year old and do not want to trade off. Anyone else experiencing this? ..... Thank in Advance

It's the pocket choice that needs updating.
Use inside pocket to keep body heat into it-

Bringing sub cold device into warm high humidity is also a problem exposed - moisture can easily embed itself deep.
Bury cold device into insulated pocket till it warms up and dry first - at least an hour.

Pretty much what we pro camera guys have to deal with all the time.
