ClockworkMod backup fails

I have been unable to backup my system using ClockworkMod. Below, I've pasted some of the messages I've gotten.
If someone can tell me what's wrong, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Scott

I get the following messages, while in recovery, when using Rom Manager and ClockworkMod to backup my system:

When you first rooted your nexus. Did you make cwm your permanent recovery?

The last paragraph talks about how to do this. Let us know if this helps ya. Good luck
