Clock display without powering on screen

I have a TB and I'm curious to know if there is some type of app/widget that will display the time (digital or not) on my phone without me having to push the button on top of my phone. Just something simple so when I want to check the time, i can pull my phone out and push no buttons, and the time will be displayed. I also have BW so there may be something that's a part of that?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. Either the screen is on, or it's not on.

(This is one thing I miss about the old-school flip "dumbphones". They usually had that little screen on the front that showed what time it was.)

Yeah I've never seen anything like this and if it did exist it would drain your battery super fast.

tappin and a talkin

Is your friend with the BB using a holster? An app like this would definitely kill your battery. BB's can tell when they're unholstered and can automatically switch the screen on.

This is such a useful feature that I can't imagine why Google (or device manufacturers) have not implemented it with Android. It might be possible with some combination of the magnetic dock detection and the proximity sensor along with a specially designed holster.
