Choose Your Own Adventure ... Do want...

Seems like a great, easy sort of app/game to put on the Market. I searched around a little, but didn't find anything very interesting. I'd even pay for some of the old Fantasy Fighting Gamebooks in digital form.

Thoughts?

There are MUD games out there... not that this is exactly what you're looking for, but it's similar.

What made me think of it was this e-book reader I downloaded today. While it's awesome to use my Droid as a mini, wanna-be Kindle, something like a Choose Your Own Adventure or Fighting Fantasy Gamebook would be fantastic.

I may just need to look into app publishing myself....

Exactly. And, will do. I have a friend who is far more code savvy than I am. I may have to get him on board, I know he'll dig the idea.

And while the CYOA books would be the simplest, the Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks would be a little more intensive as they involved rolling dice, inventories, character sheets, etc.

Still, I'm interested. It would even be a blast to write my own, it's an idea I've toyed with for years actually.

Try this one Colossal Cave a classic

The problem with a lot of the choose your owns is that they are very shallow - story is too short and not developed enough except on 'the right' story branch. But I love the idea and would like to see what you come up with.

We used to play that one in the 70s. My dad would bring home a dumb terminal with a roll of paper and a 300 baud modem and dial in to work over the weekends. The other favorite was the 8x8x8 Star Trek game. Silly Droid phones have WAY more power than that now a days. :icon_ banana:

Choice of the Dragon is excellent. I downloaded that one a couple months ago. Its got great writing and a good sense of humor.
