Yet another legacy from this recent 'upgrade' to JB is this persistent notice up on my status bar that comes with an icon that looks like a keyboard (how clever) "Choose input method" is the demand. English, thankfully is the default input method. Does anyone know how to get rid of this pesky icon/msg. permanently? Thanks.

I don't believe it's the language it's referring to regarding input method, but the keyboard type instead (i.e. Android keyboard versus Swype). This is not something you can turn off IINM.

Are you getting this message cropping up all the time? I'm all for input method choice. It makes me feel as if I have control over my life...But now that I have chosen the Android keyboard, aren't I allowed a little peace and quiet re: the notifications?

This actually started happening when we went from GB to ICS. It's IP there on my notification area right now.
There was a thread on it last summer but I don't remember anyone finding a solution to it....

Correct. And to answer the op again, no...I don't believe there is a way to prevent the choice from being displayed - mainly because now it's the only way to select. It used to be that you pressed and held in an input screen to bring up the option menu but that's been replaced with the cut and paste options instead.

I am currently on 4.1.2 but I would love to flash ROMs on 4.2.2. So how do I upgrade my Maxx to JB 4.2.2?

No MAXXation without representation!
