Car wont play music from droid x via usb

I have a droid x. My car has a usb port, an aux port and bluetooth capability. I would prefer to use the usb due to the sound quality but my car says check device whenever I try to use it. and I tried using all the options the dx has to offer. Any suggestions?

Your car's stereo doesnt support that device, so your going to have to use the aux port.

Sounds to me like the radio doesn't support the device with the currently installed drivers. You would either need an update or way to probably install them yourself.
