We have two Droid X phones. On occasion, either will just hop into car mode for no readily apparent reason. One is particularly interesting though...you hit the slider and get the regular interface, select an app (Market, dial a call, whatever) and THEN it jumps to car mode. You then hit "close" and the thing sometimes reboots. The added kicker here - sometimes, it just exits to the main screen and works fine.
