can't disable new email notification

I've started using K9mail on my Droid X and can't turn off new email notification. In Gmail, under Notification Settings, I've selected Silent under Select Ringtone. In k9mail, under New Mail Ringtone, I select Silent but it keeps kicking back to Default Ringtone, so I keep getting the audible alert. I want the phone to ring when I get a call, but I don't want to hear "Droid" every time I get an email.

Open Gmail app from phone click menu key then click on more scroll to the bottom can turn notification off there

Thanks! Turns out there's another piece to the puzzle that I learned today on a K9 Mail forum: in the K9 Mail app, you have to leave all setting screens using the back button for the setting to be saved. If you just click OK and then the "home" button, the change you were trying to make will be lost.

How would a Droid newbie know? Anyway, thanks, wyld - you've helped bring peace & quiet back to my life
