Can't afford Sprint anymore, but I love my Samsung Galaxy 3

I am new here, and I want to know if anyone can help. I have the Samsung Galaxy 3 and love it, but I just can't keep paying such a high cell bill. Sprint charges too much.

I have looked at all of the various carriers, and my preference would be to use Virgin Mobile (still Sprint CDMA/4glte when available) but I need to use the same phone.

I've read that you can flash your phone, but do I also need to be concerned about if Virgin Mobile will activate my phone? I was told by someone I needed a "donor" phone, then I can switch to my Galaxy, but the ESN will still be Sprint's original ESN.

Can anyone direct me, and in simple terms? Lol, I'm old enough to be your mom, and I'm more tech savvy than most, but you all have me beat! :D:hail:
