Cannot sync gmail???

My phone is rooted now, but, I can't sync my gmail, and my dang data turns off when asleep or on a call.

Ideas?

I had a similar problem syncing gmail and calendar after the ICS upgrade (I am rooted). It turned out to be a problem with my google calendar data being corrupted. I testing this by putting my wife's google account information into my phone and the sync worked for her account.

I ended up blowing away my google calendar and then the syncing worked. At the time I was keeping my outlook calendar synced with my goolge calendar so my calendar data was restored to my google calendar after the wipe. The sync worked after the data recovery.
