I was thinking about getting the extended battery and was wondering if it was possible/safe to use the stock battery cover?

I don't think so. You could jam it on but it would be open to the environment.

You can use the extended cover with the stock battery though.

Just got my extended battery earlier and tried it for grins and giggles. The answer is yes. Snaps on just fine but you can see a very slight buldge in the middle.

You CAN but its obvious that it has pressure on it from the battery, does not look right at all. Just use the included battery cover that comes with the extended battery.

The extended cover doesnt really add bulk at all, and the phone still fits cases. No need to put the stress the back

I tried it as well and I'd imagine it puts pressure on the internals of the phone as well. Definitely use the extended cover with it.

My thoughts exactly. Not to mention heat distribution may be suboptimal
