Is it even an "issue" that need to be fixed? Or a personal preference? I guess the OP could ask Google for that to be a choice in the Notification Settings.

You should go to the Google - Android Support site, find the sub-section for Notifications / Display (whatever they call it) and submit your idea as a new functionality request. The worst that can happen is they say No.

I was playing around with Moto display notifications and you can only do reply if you use the check box show all info if you have it not show private it just shows that you have a notification but can do an action. Also it is counterintuative to swipe down to dismiss and swipe up to reply or do an action as the fingerprint button is down. It might be smoother if they made it better pick action swipe down click fingerprint.
I actually just got a welcome to Moto z2 email from Moto support that says Moto display can be scheduled off at night but I still can find setting. The blue night mode setting does not seem to turn off notifications or else the notifications feature would be useful.ni want to find a way to turn off Moto display at night or only when phone is tapped or picked up. Not as customizable so far as turbo 2
The link I posted about Night Mode was to the official Moto website. They claim it is possible on the Z2 Force and Z2 Play. Maybe their website and email are wrong? Either way....try to enjoy the phone and enjoy the good things it does. Sometimes the little nit-picky things turn out to be not a big deal over time.
