I've searched but can't find info about if the Droid can be used as a live webcam. Not to VIEW webcam feeds, but to actually be used as a webcam. Seems like it should be an easy thing (technologically).

i too am looking for an answer to this, searching and cant find
debating rooting the phone and seeing if i could find where the camera is located hoping that it is like in Linux (/dev/video0) then go from there, if i could get a small camera testing program to compile on the device ill post the results

The process will be... outlined for me on the forums, haha alrighty ill report back and IF i start to work on getting anything compiled ill start a thread in the dev side of this ship

not sure if ive got the right definition of webcam
Webcams are video capturing devices connected to computers or computer networks, often using USB or, if they connect to networks, ethernet or Wi ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webcam
Usb Webcam WORKS GREAT! so first off you HAVE to enable usb debugging on your phone witch is in your phone settings then you have to go to the website they tell you and download the program.. Then download a software called ManyCam its a program that allows you to use your webcam in multiple IM programs skype,aim,msn... ect ect... then just select GWebcamVideo as the source in manycam and you can use it with ANY IM program! the video is kinda choppy but its still a makeshift webcam!
also, ive installed usb webcam but no portable device should rely on a desktop program, should be based off the drivers and discoverable as a usb cam
but... hopefully usb webcam helps with possible needed files
