Camera shutter sound missing

It seems the camera shutter doesn't make a sound any more when you take a picture. I've look all over the settings but can't find an on/off switch for it. Anyone know where it might be hiding? TIA.

My understanding was that you couldn't turn it off with the stock Camera app. Mine makes a sound when taking a picture.

Have you done a battery pull or tried clearing the app's Cache or data?

No luck. I did find a shutter sound on/off setting but it was set to "on". Still no sound.

This is bizarre. The sound started up again and I didn't change anything....I wonder if it's haunted LOL...verrrrrry strange.

Is your phone set to silent when there is no shutter sound?

No. The sound worked everywhere else.
