Camera making ticking sound?!?

Ive notice when taking pictures the camera will make a ticking noise, then today I downloaded barcode scanner app and I thougt it wasnt working right due to it not being able to scan. Problem was the camera was having difficult time focusing. So I removed app and tried shopsavy, only to find it having same issues. The whole time its trying to focus its making a ticking sound. Is my camera bad? Should I take it in for a new phone?
