Camera App Has Stopped Working

MagicSquares

I took a photo with the rear-facing camera on my HTC Rezound an hour or two ago, and then emailed it to someone immediately afterwards, and everything worked fine.

However, my camera app no longer works - when I select it from the Home screen or the Apps screen, it temporarily displays a black screen with what looks like a camera icon in the centre, and then it re-displays my Home screen.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Mark

Open up Settings->Apps->All and scroll down and find camera. Clear data/cache.

This is also worth a try if the above doesn't work... open up your gallery and delete any corrupt images.

Thanks for those suggestions.

I've done as you said, including deleting a bunch of photos (as well as the last one I took), but I've still got the same problem.

Rooted or not?

Edit, if rooted go to recovery and clear all cashes and flash Rom and gapps again then boot..if still not working backup setup with titanium or something...factory reset and boot..if it all didn't work after all that it's a hardware issue.

If not rooted get phone exchanged.

According to the Root Checker app, my device does not have proper root access.

Can you get to recovery? If so still follow my steps. Root checker isn't always accurate..I always go to terminal and type su to make sure I have root.

I tried ConnectBot and when I typed the su command, the prompt remained as a $ sign, so I guess that's more confirmation it's not rooted?

At this point root is our secondary concern, can you get to recovery? Like clockwork?

Well, I deleted a bunch more images from the Gallery, many of which I don't think I even put there myself, and now it's working again!

Strange, but good (for now).

I knew it had to be a corrupt image! It's happened to me in the past on my old Droid X.

Glad you got it sorted out! :big smile:
