Call Log/History

This may be a function of Sense but when you push the dialer from the home screen and you are taken to a call log, this is not a entire history. You can further access the call history by pressing the call history. What is the first log, it seems to be a random selection of calls and numbers. (I.E. I called my wife, she looks at the dialer log and does not see me calling her, yet when you go to the call history its all there. Likewise in the call log my work number is listed as the one to call even though my cell is default.)

Can you control this call log? or make it list the actual call history?
