Calendar app - can I make it keep entries forever?

My stock calendar app doesn't seem to keep my entries for more than a few months past their due dates. Is this normal, or is there a setting I can change that will make it keep the entries forever? I'd like to occasionally use my calendar entries as a reference for tracking my past activities. I'm syncing with Outlook, and Outlook also seems to purge events a few months after they're current.

I believe Outlook controls the deleting. Check your calendar and appointment settings at that end.
