Btach delete some, not all, msgs fr txt msg thread?

Using stock txt msg app my my Droid. I want to keep some txts, delete some. Droid puts all msgs to/fr same person into a combined thread. That's ok, but now I want to delete *some* but *not all* of the messages.

I am able to either:
1. Delete the whole thread.
2. Delete individual msgs, 1 by 1 -- long press on msg, select delete, confirm delete...it's cumbersome for more than 1-2 at a time.

I routinely want to keep some msgs in a thread but delete a bunch of others. What's the smart way to do that?

Thanks.

i don't bother deleting any text messages, for the most part.

seems like that's the only way to do it.

That gives me 1/2 of what I need: I still would have the messages.

It doesn't give me the other 1/2: I want to get rid of the ones I no longer need, so I can find what I do need faster, and also not risk losing something I want to keep, by mistake....and generally just not have 1000s of txts cluttering things up.

How long to you keep them, and how many, and what's the cap -- my kids phones max out at some point, but I never thought to ask what the txt storage capacity is on Droid, do you know?

Thanks.
