Bluetooth voice dialing?

As I stated.

My question, was does anyone know WHY ?
sorry if this is off subject.
Maybe I will start a new thread.

Motorola Milestone ( Canadian version of U.S. Droid )with 2.1 DOES work with hands free voice dialing paired with a basic headset such as a Motorola H560.

I was unable to use voice dial from a Motorola Bluetooth headset. However, when I paired the Droid with my 2009 Ford Escape with Sync, I was able to download the phone book, then use the Sync system to voice dial.

This is not a solution to the headset problem, but it is a bit of good news to someone who has Sync available and wants to get a Droid or other Android based phone.

I haven't found mention of any Bluetooth headsets for Android that are totally hands free. You still have to look at and touch the screen to initiate a call. With my KRZR dumb phone I just tap the head set and then say Call Someone where Someone is a person in my contact list.
Please read the existing threads on the topic (this is a well-beaten dead horse). If the BT device has built-in voice dial you can use it instead of relying on the handset.

Has anyone figured out why we Canadian Milestone users have handsfree ?
The Milestone and Droid aren't exactly alike. There are quite a few differences between them along these lines.

So what are you saying here, that the Milestone can do BTVD because of an additional piece of hardware inside or something? I thought it was a licensing thing with the company that makes the BT voice dialing software.

Please explain.

My milestone running 2.1 paired with my Parrot 3200 DOES NOT work with bluetooth voice dialing. I still have to initiate from my phone and use the mic on my phone. I thought they fixed this in the 2.1 update?

There are no Android phones that voice call with Bluetooth and they don't seem to have an interest in getting them to work. Use the apps in the market or purchase a Blueant Q1.

The reason why is anybodies guess.

Motorola has licensed software from a third party company that has enabled BT voice dialing on the Devour and Milestone. Sorry, I can't find the reference to the company or the software, but it has been stated that it is a software thing, not a hardware limitation.

Edit: Here's a thread discussing the issue on HoFo, starts around post #3:

The company is Nuance, and the software is called vSuite.
