bluetooth designation Headset/phone

Had a motorola H710 paired to fascinate and was paired as headset,then upgraded to new headset(forgot actual name but bought it from verizon)for compatability with enhanced caller ID. well when paired it became headset and h710 became phone in bluetooth devices. well didn't like new headset so i deleted it and now i can't get the h710 to go back to headset even if deleted and repaired it will remember it as a phone. problem is I can't control volume of voice prompts but can control volume once connected. I can hardly hear the voice prompts.Thanks Abike
