BLU is a popular smartphone manufacturer of entry level smartphones in the US. They have apparently just released an update to a phone in their lineup which renders the phone useless. Some of us have the luxury of being able to simply swap our sim to an older device if something were to happen to our current phone. For others their phone is their lifeline, and it is the only one they have.

The complaints are coming from users of the BLU Life One X2. The phone is one of the higher end phones in BLUs lineup. It's priced around the $200 mark and has some respectable specs. For those reasons the phone has become pretty popular. The update appears to fail after requiring a password that you are unable to enter. You can do a factory reset which requires you to totally wipe your user date to regain the use of your phone. BLU is currently investigating and trying to fix the issue.

If you can factory reset, it's not a brick.
Exactly! What is going on around here lately with all the "news" posts being so hyperbolic, or just flat out lying with false information?
