blackberry messenger for droid

And you guys bust iPhone fanboy balls?

I have never been happier with a phone and I dont plan on jumping off of Android anytime soon, but give credit where credit is due. There are some great STABLE features with RIM and BB.

As for uptime, RIM has an uptime of 99.8%. Not too shabby if you ask me.

exactly what i was thinking....

obviously im interested in someone who can build something along the lines of bbm if it is possible for the android os. i think it would be an interesting project for a developer if theres one out there that can do it.

Blackberry had several issues with 5.0 on not only several of their devices but also with bbm itself. They can't make a touch screen device that even comes close to Droid. IMHO Blackberry's best days are behind them.

why would you want an android only messenger?
I don't get this either. A "BBM equivalent" that doesn't run on BB's is just IM.

No site, including this one, is fanboy-free.

RIM has server crashes almost monthly.
You'll need to back that claim up. Even BIS outages are far less than monthly. BES outages are extremely rare.
That's funny because there's been 2 since November. :icon_eek: Around 11/16 and again around 12/18-12/23 there were issues with BIS being down.(I only know in terms of BIS, as I don't have, nor have never had, a BES connection) So I can not speak for BES.
And having owned a Storm for a year... BB data outages were not an uncommon thing. Any BB owner experienced this.

Although Google Talk is OK, there are certain things about BBM that I miss. If I send a message to a person who is not logged in, they will never receive it. On BBM it held onto the message and delivered it when able. I was also able to see whether they read the message or not, I miss that feature also. And on more of a fun note, smilies are kind of a pain to put into G Talk, and I miss things like the Thumbs Up smilie, etc...

My wife doesn't use her Gmail account. So that doesn't work for her.

And I am much happier with my Droid than my BB's. But we did like the messenger.
