Bionic is now free...

While I like the RAZR Maxx, I still enjoy my Bionic and don't have any significant problems with it.

Me and my mom upgrade at the same time since I'm still on her plan. She doesn't care about updates and everything. I might get her the Bionic...

I wish they'd knock the Rezound back down to $50 like when they had that big sale. Otherwise, I may have to get a RAZR.

The Droid Bionic-specific lapdock is $97 on the VZW website too.

So, depreciation on the Bionic is $40/month. Is this a new record?
If they are going to charge $200, they should at least throw in one of those $100 7-inch Android 4.0 tablets.

Last week this phone was literally $99.. Now it's free and the RAZR is still what, $99? $199?

With the news of the dropping of unlimited data plans, I am in a dilemma. As much as I would prefer to update to an unlocked device like the nexus, at this time it is not feasible due to monetary constraints in my budget. I will not have enough spare cash for a while to buy the upgrade I want, yet I do not want to drop my unlimited plan when I do have the cash. Free is definitely something I can do. I am considering going with the bionic for the free upgrade to my og droid while I can still upgrade and keep my plan. I do see there is a dev community for the phone. My question is how strong is the dev community for it since I will for certain root and modify any phone I get. Thanks.

I had the same issue. I ordered a Razr yesterday and I got my mom the Bionic since it was free. She doesn't really care about updates and I wanted an HD screen and ICS (leaks). Ended up costing $173 with the stupid upgrade fees and tax ($13). And it shows we kept our unlimited plans.

What's new? Verizon phones typically go a process of price reduction as it turns over their product line, some faster than others. I'll bet the RAZR will have a reduction to free in the near future.
