Big Red Device Advice (Bionic vs SII)

I am looking to break into the smartphone universe as I am available for an upgrade and have been since May, but I am not sure exactly how to proceed at this moment.

I have been waiting for the Droid Bionic for a few months now, but after all of the delays I am feeling less than confident in Motorola at the moment and I am beginning to feel swayed by the Galaxy SII because of its overseas popularity and its (rumored) earlier release date. I have read more than one article comparing the two phones, but a full comparison cannot be completed until both phones have their specs revealed. I have some reserves about the SII though, specifically the lack of 4g LTE confirmation (even though it is expected from what I read) and I have heard Samsung's GPS locator is sometimes too slow.

I am certainly looking for a dual-core LTE device so this decision may be made easier if 4g capabilities are absent from the SII. I am drawn by the Bionic as a full media smartphone and by the SII by the popularity.

If I were to upgrade now, which phone would deserve the two-year commitment more based on your opinion? Or to throw in a (long shot) third choice. Should I hold out for another 4 months and upgrade into the next generation of quad-core/HD screen smartphones assuming they will release on time?

I appreciate any given. advice

Based on my opinion and lack of knowledge on either device, I'd probably go with the Bionic based on the one fact I am not a fan of TouchWiz. Yes I know I can change the launcher and all that, but I only find this necessary once I'm "bored" with the stock UI, as I've done so very recently with my Incredible.

Unfortunately that's all I have to give in terms of advice. The fact that these phones aren't on the network yet and so little is known about them makes a decision pretty much impossible. Yeah the numbers look good, but how does it perform and does it fit your uses?

A choice of phone is and always will be a personal preference. You can ask all the questions you want but in the end you, as a consumer, need to get some hands on time with these devices and decide for yourself. I did some major research before deciding to go with my Incredible after my Droid1 upgrade and it took a good week of debating even after a small demo at my local Verizon store. And to this day I am glad to say that I may even wait til my contract is up before upgrading instead of my initial 18 month period, I am that happy with my phone.

That being said, good luck when the phones come out. I am going to get my hands on demo with a Bionic once it releases and I hope you do the same.

The galaxy will be thinner, but no 4G. Also, there will be no quad-core phones anytime soon (especially not this year) - so don't even worry about that unless you're willing to wait well into next year.
