Hello Friends,
I have some TV shows in .MKV format that I would like to output to my TV.
Obviously with some additional DX software and Real HDMI this would not be a problem but since that is gone I am forced to re-encode my videos to mp4 format in order to view on an external display.
My main issue is that my videos which were originally ripped from DVDs become EXTREMELY artifacted after the conversion. I have not been able to find software which will allow me to create a copy of the original without significant quality loss.
File size is not really an issue here, so I am looking for an encoder that will allow me to create a high quality mp4 based on the original mkv.
I have been experimenting with HDEncode which produces video that looks watchable when outputed to a TV but only if the original source is 720p. If you re-encode a standard dvd-rip to .mp4 the output is unwatchable on a TV (although it looks great if you just watch it on the DX itself).
Thanks for the help!
