This has probably been asked before but theres new apps coming out everyday it seems.

Photovault is no good because it just renames or relocates your pics but if your phone was lost/stolen they can just plug in your SD card to a pc and pull them right off.

I am thinking about Lokpix it costs 3 or 4 bucks but thats a cheap price to pay to not have me and my gf's private stuff end up on the internet.:icon_eek: Also camera snaps can be directly encrypted (password protected) into the lokpix gallery. But I don't like how each pic is encrypted separate. It seems it would take a long time to decrypt and view each one in a slideshow, and I'm about to be deployed so I will be doing a lot of watching slideshows:icon_eek::icon_ banana:. And some of my pics are hi-res stuff from the net. I want something like truecrypt where it creates an encrypted container/folder and all the pics videos go there, but there isnt any truecrypt for droid:sad:

Privacy Gallery looks good too but I'm not sure because theres not much info on it. It talks about passwords but not encryption.

Any help for this devil-dog?

* Edit * I'm not 100%, but I could have SWORN I named this post best-app-hide-encrypt-my-porn not best-app-hide-encrypt-my-photo-collection. Now nobodys going to read it. Thanks a lot mods be sure to put the burkas over your daughters heads before you send them to school.

Just create a folder named ".hidden". Put all the good stuff there. Best part- it's free.

No good lockman. the photos are not encrypted/password protected that way. you can get to them with a file explorer like astro. also if my phone got lost / stolen / borrowed without asking it is a VERY simple thing to put the SD card in a PC and view the pics. The .(dot) thing only works for people like nosey moms and gf's. Not anybody that knows anything like most my friends and other people.

Why don't compress and encrypt the folder with AndroXplorer v.3.
can i view in a slideshow? does it unzip to memory or onto the card unencrypted? when I'm done can i just close the AndroXplorer app or do i have to delete extracted stuff too? are the thumbnails still there in the pic browser?

If you need on-the-fly encryption (OTFE), until the day Android kernel supports FUSE - file system in user space, you are not going to see this kind of software popping up. AndroXplorer, it latest version 3, is the next closest thing you can get. It provides a very convenient encrypted and compressed folder. You can copy and paste your photos from other folders into the the compressed and encrypted folder, but you won't see the thumbnails once the photos are encrypted. The folder closes by itself once you are out of it.

Thanks AndroidId I'll give it a shot. But it raises another question.. Since this is an archive file can I create the archive file on my PC then copy it over to my droid? Most of my porn is on my pc (encrypted of course). Is the androXplorer encrypted archive standard same as an encrypted zip or rar archive? is there a desktop app that creates the same kind of encrypted archive file? it would be nice to move/backup encrypted containers around this way.

I just found the answer to my own question from
AndroXplorer® - Home

AndroXplorer v.3 features seamless integration of encryption technology into a wide variety of archive formats running on top of a smooth and intuitive file manager. It supports the most extensive compression encoding for Zip (deflate, deflate64, LZMA, PPMd, BZip2), 7z** (LZMA, LZMA2, PPMd, BZip2), BZip2, Tar, GZip, Wim and XZ. Extraction and decoding covers even larger set of archive formats, including, but not limited to: Arj, Bz2, Cab, Chm, Dmg, Deb, Iso, Nsis, Rar**, SquashFS, CramFS, Udf, LZH, LHA, LZMA and PPMd along with all the supported compression formats. AndroXplorer v.3 built-in Unicode conversion engine supports UTF8 to UTF16 encoding and decoding. A necessary requirement for archiving of files with International character names.

I'll try it out I'm curious to see how it handles really large archive (3GB) and allows for pic browsing. it must extract pics someplace to view. system memory i hope.

And don't take the phone out of the FOP. And if your buddies are going to mess with it hide the card before you go out.

And thanks for your service.
Airborne leads the way!

Hi,

I've been using www.cryptmypic.com for some months, but it was only available for iOS.
They have just released the android version, which is compatible with the iOS one.

Hope it helps
