What is Beautiful Widgets and why is it so popular. Is it worth the price?
Its defiantly one of the best paid apps on the market IMO.
It most popular for it's weather/clock widget. It's in my list of "must have" apps for android

Beautiful Widgets (or BW) is a collection of widgets. The most popular of those is a time/calendar/weather widget that's generally goes the home page. It has skins so you can easily change the look to suit your mood.

Others have explained what BW is. As to whether it's worth the price, I think you'll be puzzled by the loyalty expressed by so many users unless you understand that it was one of the early professional apps for the Droid and that the developer was threatened with a lawsuit for infringing on the look and feel of a similar app from HTC for their phones. Many BW fans felt this was unfair and petty on the part of HTC, promoting a feeling of loyalty toward BW that might otherwise not have been so widespread.
In any event, the BW functionality can be duplicated by various free apps and widgets. But the overall look and feel and capacity to be customized with various skins and apps called by the widget is, if not unique, at least rare.
