Battery ?'s

Ok I know this has been talked about on here already but it was a while back so wanted to see if anything new was out there. Im asking this for my sister I have a rooted droid. Ive tried turning all the extra stuff off like WiFi (she thought she needed to have it running all the time) GPS and so on but still has not helped her battery life still cant make it all day at work with out charging. Just thought Id see if anyone had anymore suggestions of what to do before I tell her to take it back to the store as its only a week old. Thanks

It's not clear if she has the Ally (the section this was posted in) or if she has a droid like you do.

You can adjust the screen brightness, don't use task killers, as well as the other things you mentioned. Nothing new out there that I know of that is in addition to standard steps to take.

Yeah she has the ally and Ive tried all that think its just a junk phone. Ive never seen one this bad before and all my friends work for Verizon and they haven't either. Just going to try and get her out of that phone I never liked it to begin with. I can get my D1 to run just about 2 days on a charge and she cant even get half a day somethings got to be messed up with the phone. time to switch out to a fascinate I think.

I have a stock Droid and my wife has a stock Ally. I think her Ally gets better battery life than my Droid does. She is very happy with it and I think it is a good phone. The only battery type thing that is better about the Droid is the recharge time. The Ally takes a lot longer to charge than the Droid.

If her battery life is so bad then why not take it in to Verizon for an exchange if she likes the Ally.

I agree with old fart, I think the Ally has slightly better battery life, too. (it IS a smaller phone, smaller screen, that's a big thing right there).

Remember how electronics work, there is a sliding scale about the processor and it could be the one put in your phone just sucks (on the bell curve one of the faulty ones?). The LG Ally is a pretty good phone (I've played with my gf's phone, she has one), I like my touchscreen better than hers, but I think she gets slightly better battery life stock.

Can she get a replacement? If the Verizon store representative noticed crap battery life, too it could be a defective model and she could get a replacement at that store!

Another option is that the phone is misreporting battery percentage. Try a complete discharge/recharge to see if the Phone starts reporting battery life correctly. Yes its not good for the battery, but you sometimes have to do it to recalibrate the phone's battery usage stats.

Thanks for all the suggestions Ive tried all that stuff and still not any better. I think she can still return it and get something else which is what I suggested to do. But If not going to get a replacement my roommate works for Verizon so got that all lined up.

Actually, LG has said that a lot of the Allys shipped with unconditioned batteries. I was getting 3-4 hours on a charge but I did a complete discharge/recharge twice a day for about a week b4 I noticed it would make it all day on a charge. Another week and I was able to make it 26 hours. Now I charge every other night (basic usage: 150 txts/day, 5-6 10 min calls). try that or trade in for a new ally. My wife has the droid and my buddy has the epic, and they both envy the stability of my Ally.
