Battery Life

Hey guys Im new on here and glad to be a part of the community. Well I got the Droid Razr Maxx two days ago, I charged my battery while off till 100% (I had accidently turned it on once) then turned it on and used it a bit and put it on charge while on. I believe this should have calibrated it. I used it awhile and notice the battery shows near full green but its percentage is like 80. So I end up getting 16-17 hours outta the phone with about 4.5 hours screen use. It seems low compared to some other peoples...Do I happen to have a bad battery? :/ Thanks guys.

I have the non-Maxx Razr, so I won't compare my battery life to yours but if you want to know about batteries, search for posts by FoxKat. He's written extensively about battery performance and has saved many a poor Droid's life. :)

Here's one of his posts about how to calibrate your battery and another on maximizing it's life and performance.

Sounds about normal to me . I can get 4-6 or so hours of screen on time out of a charge depending on what I am doing with the screen on. If i am playing games it usually drains faster, but my battery life improved after the first few charges. I typically go my whole day(12 hours) with 60-70% left when I get home from work with about 2-2.5 hours of screen on time. Then depending on the night I may run it down to 40% or so. Now keep in mind I am in a good 4G area and use it, also I do nothing to conserve battery, no smart actions, 4g on all day, email and facebook syncing, screen about 50% brightness, 6- 10 phone calls a few texts and so on. To me every phone has flaws but the MAXX is the best Android phone I have had. I can use it without worry of plugging in.

Thanks for the input, can anyone else verify if they notice better battery life after the first few charges? Also, am I the only one who notice when you turn the phone off, then on, it resets the counter for time on the battery?

Can anyone post their battery life on here? I'm interested on SCREEN ON time, I really don't care how long you haven't been using your phone.

This is my first full charge and was watching some YouTube videos for about 45mins.

Looks like 6-6:30 hours browsing/screen on/3G then. Real life time. I don't care about Internet battery tests.

Maybe you could squeeze 7 out of it.

I always assume heavy use.

It looks more like 10 hours to me if you run it down to shutdown.

3.25 hours screen on time / 32% battery used = bit over 10 hours screen on time

It should still have about 30% battery left at 7 hours screen on time.

I'm guesstimating 7 hours accounting for the crappy 3rd world 3G connection.

Total battery used divided by percent used by screen divided by time screen on equals percent used by screen per hour.
In the posts above it looks like 6.5 and 5.5%/hour of screen on time.
That's much better than my RAZR Maxx.
I wonder if screen on includes the active notifications screen time.
Another big consideration is brightness. Also what you're doing with the screen, watching video seems to use less battery per hour than say, browsing and playing games. Maybe the on and off uses more than constant on?
There are many variables it's really hard to compare even just looking at screen use.
The only way i can get screen on time like that is with brightness so low that this old fart can't see it.
GSam app will break down screen time by brightness as well as many other useful data points.
Thanks for this info, I'm leaning toward an upgrade to the Maxx.

I'm on an iPhone 4S.

I narrowed it down to 2 choices. Either the LG G2 or the Droid Maxx. Battery life is a big one for me. Second is screen. I'm waiting for them to make it to Asia.

Thing is, I don't know if the Droid Maxx will be sold here (thailand). We do have the RAZR Maxx.

But for me, those are the 2 best phones this year.

In reality the user experience of Android and the manufacturers UI really leave nothing to be desired from iPhone users.

A couple of years ago I could comment on the ugliness and the lag, but now, it's buttery smooth, the UI they put on top is minimal and only just add really good features. I just can't justify an iPhone purchase this year. Anyone who buys an iPhone 5s over these 2 phones that I mentioned is totally nuts.

I got the droid Maxx on launch day, upgrading from my iPhone 5. The battery life is insane. I absolutely love this phone. Here is my battery screen shot. The initial dip of battery life is because of me encrypting the phone. I have yet to kill this phone. I don't think I can get a full 48 hours out of it, but I am a heavy user and I get more than enough battery for a single day.
