Battery is almost done... after update horrible performance.

Today, after a fill recharge from 4% last night,
my battery drained extremely fast today... down to
54% in 4 hours with only 2 hours scree time and 36 minutes voice!
NOTHING NEW IN USAGE OR APPS. Did a FDR... MADE IT WORSE! The
battery went from 9% to 4% in 10 minutes!
Verizon tech support said they have seen numerous
issues with the update we received. Sending me ANOTHER phone.
NICE WORK GOOGLE, MOTOROLA, VERIZON.
PERHAPS SOME REAL PROGRAMMERS NEED APPLY FOR
JOBS TO REPLACE THE MORONS YOU NOW HAVE!
TRY THIS: TEST THE DAMN UPDATES WITH REAL
USERS BEFORE RELEASING OTA. I KNOW THE CONCEPT
MIGHT TAKE GETTING USED TO... YOU CAN DO IT!
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GOOGLE.
NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY APPLE USERS ARE MOSTLY
HAPPY.

I have no problem at all. I have droid HD and not maxx. I'm at 5 hours battery usage with 2 hours screen time and at 69%

sometimes an app can cause conflict with an OS update. Download a battery monitoring app to see if that's the case, Gsam is a good one.

I have no issues. Have you tried letting the phone run down to 15%, turning it off, and letting it charge fully? Anytime I have problems with my batter, this always helps.

I would as said above when you run it down charge it off and recalibrate the battery meter. I have had no issues with mine and am always at least in the range of what the Maxx HD ads say of 32 hrs on a charge. I have gone as high as 55 hrs on a single charge. You may need to calibrate as well as check for a rogue app that is not helping you in your situation.

I'm having the same issue as the OP. It's been about 11.5hrs since off the charger, with 45 minutes screen time. No rogue apps according to GSam. Battery is at 68%, wifi has been connected all day.

6h 31m on battery. 80% remaining after streaming Netflix for an hour this morning, answering some emails, etc. I re-calibrate my battery every couple of weeks using the procedure I explained above. If you're having battery problems, try this first:
  • Drain battery between 10-15%. (Try not to let it fall below 10%)
  • Turn off the phone
  • Plug it in to the Motorola Charger that came with the phone and allow it to charge fully.
  • Repeat the above process a second time, if you're really having problems with your battery.
If the above steps don't fix it, try an FDR as it might be an app that is draining it. If none of this fixes it, contact Verizon and let them know that you have a defective phone. At least that is what I would do if I was in your shoes.

Battery almost gone

Has anyone actually retread my post? I let the battery drain down to 4%!
I did a FDR. I have NOT added any apps since I was getting good battery life.
BTW... there is absolutely no evidence that letting the battery go below
10% is harmful, as witnessed by both Verizon and Motorola techies.
I have very few apps on my phone... no games, no videos except
YouTube. NOTHING NEW EXCEPT FOR THE UPDATE.
YES, Verizon is sending me another phone.
BTW...simply playing videos for an hour after having the phone sleeping
is not the way to show impressive battery life.
Total screen, voice... these are the power hogs and
the time of their usage is what I use to evaluate the battery.
I was getting up to 8 hours of screen time, and up to 3 hours
of Voice, with very little streaming... mostly email and Web research.
All this is history. Getting the replacement phone
today. BTW... I have disabled most crappie apps, and stop other running processes (Maps, Whatsapp, Sync, etc.).
Just the bare minimum are running.
Phones from different serial number runs can act completely
different than other phones of the exact same model.
Verizon is aware of the problems.

So if you are not going to try any of the recommendations then why did you post this to begin with? You have a new phone coming so obviously Verizon is taking care of you. I am trying to understand the point of this thread, other than to come on here and complain.

EXCUSE ME? I am simply stating that YES, there might be
issues with the update and that other users are not alone.
I HAVE DONE ALL NECESSARY CHECKS, INCLUDING HAVING VERIZON
TAKE REMOTELY EXAMINE MY PHONE, AND AND CALLING
MOTOROLA. DAMN RIGHT I AM COMPLAINING. If we do not assert
ourselves with Big Red and the Phone manufacturers, then we are to blame for
garbage phones and bad system/phone performance.
I pay $120 a month and have every right to demand
better service and performance. Have a problem with that?

My point is there are 4 posts in this thread that offer advice and guidance. You have yet to reply stating that you tried these things or are willing to try them to determine what is the problem with the device. Instead you just state that nobody is reading what you posted and you rant about the bad device. I understand that you need to state your thoughts and opinions when your device is not operating properly, but I highly doubt this is the place or the method to do so. You go off on Google as if it is their fault when you have numerous users (including myself) that have zero problems with our device.

You went to Verizon and Motorola for assistance, which was a good thing to do. They couldn't fix the problem so they are sending you a new phone. In the meantime have you tried any of the suggestions listed in this thread to see if you find any improvements while you wait for the replacement phone? If you are not going to try these things then why post in the first place?

While you're waiting on your new phone go to settings>data usage...more>Mobile Networks>network mode and make sure you have LTE/CDMA selected...not Global or GSM/UMTS. Global is the default (for what ever reason). As we all know, Verizon is a CDMA/LTE network...not global and not GSM. A change in this setting to LTE/CDMA, depending on where you live and signal strength from surrounding towers can make a big difference if battery life.

I am worried my battery life was possibly affected by the last OTA update. I have been using it pretty heavily so the first few days I didn't really notice.

however last night I went to bed I swear my battery was about 30- 40% --- I also have a smart action set enabled to turn off wifi/data etc to save battery life. When I woke up my battery was at 7%!! Something is definitely up. How the hell could that possibly happen. Wasn't even using the phone from midnight to 8am! My smart action was definitely enabled too! I typically can get through two days of work on one charge... the update is the only thing different about my phone. my phone is totally stock too btw! Gotta do some investigating...

I had my phone charge up all the way while turned off, and now the battery is performing like it used to. Guess I'll make a habit of doing that more often!
