I recently found Lux Dash and am in love with it. This application controls the brightness and can dim the screen much lower than stock, NO ROOT REQUIRED. The difference between this app and many others is that it also has an auto option. This means no more manual adjusting for dimming the back light to not blind you in low lighting. This app allows you to link lux values read by the light sensor to a user specified back light brightness. As far as i can tell this is a fairly new application, but it is one I already cannot live with out on my maxx, i love the lower back light levels. I highly recommend trying this application. I purchased it after only 30 minutes of use.
