The Asus Eee Pad Transformer has been a pretty big hit in the Android tablet world, and now Asus will soon see if they can continue their success with a new tab. The Asus Eee Pad Slider, already talked about multiple times earlier this year, has now been confirmed for a release date of September in Europe. Interestingly, it will be released in South Africa first, then make its way throughout the rest of Europe afterwards. A 3G model is planned for 2012, which may point to an ultimate release time-frame for the U.S. Check out the video above for a pretty full demonstration of the device. Below is a refresher of its spec list:
  • 10.1-inch
  • 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2
  • Android 3.1 Honeycomb
  • USB 2.0 Connector & USB Host function allowing connection to compatible devices such as a mouse, printer or USB storage.
  • Tilt-Out full-QWERTY chiclet-style keyboard.
  • Video conferencing and photography with a 5-megapixel rear-facing and 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
  • “Pearl white” and “metallic brown” colors

Really nice video (was that Romanian???). One thing I realized is that the built-in keyboard lacks a touchpad--which the current transformer keyboard has. Makes the USB wireless mouse a required extra. But I really like the form-factor (come on, it's basically an Android netbook with a touchscreen!). Like a giant Droid. :)
