Asurion satisfaction

Have you received a replacement phone from Asurion?
If so, are you happy with the replacement phone?
I broke my Maxx screen last night and can't make up my mind whether to file a claim with them or send to Moto for repair.
I asked if they could say whether they have refurbs on hand or not and she would not/could not answer

You could try to replace the screen yourself and save the $100 or whatever it costs with Asurion. There are videos on YouTube and sites like repairsuniverse.com sell the digitizers and lcd's. There are other sites too that sell the parts. That's the only one I know of. You can also check Amazon and eBay and maybe find the parts a little cheaper.

It doesn't look too hard to replace the screen, but I've never done it. I started repairing an old iPhone but I need another part and just have no extra money right now.

Some stores in malls repair the phones too. Vertigo Systems in the mall here does it, but I don't know what they or other places charge.

I haven't had anything replaced by Asurion in a few years. I had a Blackberry Storm replaced with a refurbished phone and it worked fine. I also had my Droid X replaced but they sent me a new one because it had only been out for two weeks. I dropped it in the tub while giving my dog a bath.

I'm sure Asurion would have them in stock although I've read that the Razr and Razr Maxx are no longer being made.

I'm not so sure about that...a friend of mine had a regular RAZR and it was replaced with a RZR M. But you never know..I am sure it depends on returns and how quickly they can turn it around to be somewhat use able.. lol

S_cuttic,
Thanks for the reply, I was aware of the DIY option but there was another discussion in this forum where someone posted the screen and digitizer cost is near $200. I'll check the site you suggested for a price. There was also a post in the Droid RAZR Support forum about Moto replacing screens for $100., with fast turn around but the poster didn't actually say how many days it took. I have not had most of the ICS problems that a lot of others have had, so I'm just leery of receiving a refurb that has issues.

I cracked my screen. I did the claim with asurion online on a saturday night and had a replacement in my hands monday morning. Dropped the broken one in the prepaid mailer and was back to normal like it never happened.

As far as Asurion - getting me a new phone by 10am monday when I just reported it around 11pm saturday - I thought was awesome.

The phone itself looked brand new. Not a mark, nothing. Perfect.

It was quick & painless. The $100 fee stung, but i'm the one who broke the thing so I guess all is fair.

Shades just out of curiosity was this done recently? If so, what phone did you have and what new/referb phone did you get back?

I dropped my Droid Bionic and Asurion replaced it with a brand new RAZR Maxx about five or six months ago. Quick turnaround and everything.

The way the lady in the phone explained things to me, since they didn't make the Bionic anymore I was getting a RAZR. I didn't want the RAZR because I had grown to like my Bionic's extended battery. She put me on hold and a minute later came back and asked if A RAZR Maxx would be suitable. ...um, YES.

Because I was a clumsy idiot I basically got an early upgrade for 100 bucks. Ymmv, of course.

I received a replacement Blackberry and never had a problem with the refurb. But a friend got a refurbed Maxx and is now saying that it is on the fritz. That's the problem, you never know what you're going to get.
